I have a Saterlite L650D and have been told that I can reset

Customer Question

hi, I have a Saterlite L650D and have been told that I can reset it back to the factory out of box state, by holding down the zero button while I turn the laptop on. Suffice to say that it does not work for me, even though it seems to for some on you tube.
I do not have a OS disk to reload as the laptop came pre-loaded with win 7 premium. I've tried the repair disk (3 files ) but they don't want to run.
Can you please help! I don't want to loose the only copy of win 7 premium that I have!

Hi. My name is***** you for your question.

Toshiba's have two ways to do this.

Hold the power button down until the laptop shuts off.

After a few seconds, turn it back on and immediately

start tapping the F12 key (about once per second)

You'll get a startup menu. Look for an item called

HDD Recovery

If found, use the arrow keys to select it and press Enter to start recovery.

Are you able to log in to the computer at this time?

Hi Byron,
The first method has not worked. I just get a boot menu, nothing about HDD recovery! What was the second method?Gerry.

Start the laptop and as soon as you see the Satellite logo start tapping the F8 key.

It should load the Advanced Boot Options menu (see attachment)

Select Repair Your Computer

I also looked at the specs on your machine. Holding down 0 (zero) when starting the computer

should work. When you start the machine are you holding down the 0 in the top row of keys?

Not the zero on the keypad on the right-hand side.
