print screen key looks like this

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

I am using a surface pro with a detachable keyboard which does not seem to have a print screen key

Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 1 year ago.

on surface pro, you need to press Fn + Space

can you press Fn+Space one time

Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 1 year ago.

(First Fn, and then Space together)

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

The fn space worked and took a screen shot. Thank you. Presumably I can now use photo editing to extract exactly the image I want for my picture?

Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 1 year ago.

happy to hear that. yes, exactly. you just need to open the image in a photo editing and extract the parts you only need. and then you can save that image again with a different name.
