i have office jet pro 276 dw and having changed black ink cartridge i am being asked for a password ***** i do not have , the printer id personnely owed no one else uses it

ok, on the printer, Select Setup, then Tools, then Restore Factory Defaults. "Restore Factory Defaults" is the last item on the list and you will have to scroll down to see it.

Once done it should then remove the password

It is the mainboard that has faulted.

A corrupted firmware can cause this. But we have ruled this out by resetting it. This also explains the password *****

I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the printer to have it replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
