On the top, hover over "Finder" and click "Preferences", or press "cmd+,".
Press "sidebar" on the tabs.
Check the documents.
You can click on Finder, click "Search" and type out "Documents" (and click search for "This Mac"). Then you'll need to scroll through everything until you find your document folder (if there are many folders called "Document" make sure to find the one with a page drawn on it). Then you simply drag that folder to the sidebar!
yes you can create a new one if the folder is un recoverable
click Finder in the menu bar and select Preferences.
Under the General tab, find the New Finder windows show heading, and use the drop down box to select a preferred default Finder window location.
Default folder can be saved on any location as per your preferences.

you mean your data files are lost or deleted?
yes i do see but there is nothing on it, it just says documents when you try opening does that open?
data files must be saved on icloud or an external drive.
unplug and replug the drive and then check
I am sorry to say this but if there is nothing in the i-cloud that means the data saved on it was deleted or removed accidentally by you and if you have sent the drive for replacement the data can be recovery using 3rd party data recovery service.
