I have not been able to send emails since last Friday. Going through the Microsoft Outlook (2007) repair has not sorted this.

Well. yes. It said it was initialising it for over an hour. It shouldn't take that long, should it?

Oh! On google chat on my phone it said that the screen had probably frozen and to turn off and re-start which is what I did.

ok, not sure who you were chatting to on Google chat... but it is a pity you did that, I kindly ask you only use my instructions...

You will need to do the restore again, it wont freeze, it will error if there is an issue.

To do this, close all programs.

Press the windows key (the one to the left of the left ALT key) + R and type in the run box that opens


Press enter

Then follow the onscreen steps to choose a system restore and choose a date before this problem occurred.

Let it complete and tell me if it now functions correctly please

System restore has completed. It was running this time as the circle was moving and the screen was orange not grey.
The emails have now sent but my AVAST will not restart.
