Try cleaning it
you will get no sound unless it can read the digital tape
there is no sound on the tape
just 111 0000
it has to read it and reconstruct it
before you hear anything
clean the heads its basically a small VCR
treat it as such
How do I clean the heads? I have no cleaning tape in this format.
Can I dimount the decks cover without causing any damage?
I think I would be able to clean when the deckj is open.
By the way all the tapes I tried had high quality recordings on them.
Could there be other causes / problems that I can look at while the deck is open?
Thanks for a prompt answer.
its basically a vcr so tape path is an issue make sure the guides are secure not loose and they engage
clean with soft chamios and denatured alcohol let DRY COMPLETLY before you try it an hour should do
or you will have tape flying everywhere
do not rub up and down over the gap in the tape head but across
i usually hold the chamios and spin the head
youll see black line of dirt if it is dirty
the drum itself is not the head but the gaps
thats where its critical
they are vary delicate as well
