My BT box was renewed a few weeks ago, the engineer tuned

My BT box was renewed a few weeks ago, the engineer tuned into BT Sport, BBC is fine
but I have no ITV or Freeview . I have now by-passed the new box and have a perfect
picture but no BT Sport of course.

Hello,

First, check your cables are connected correctly. Especially the cable from your aerial to your BT TV box.

Next, check the TV signal and quality for the missing channels. To do this will depend on which type of BT box you have:

  1. Vision+ box - Press the BT Vision button on your remote control and go to Help & Settings > Settings > TV Settings > Freeview Signal Strength
  2. YouView+ box - Go to Settings > TV Signal & Quality > TV Signal Quality

If the signal quality is less than 50%, this will indicate that you have a weak signal to receive this channel. If you're signal is too high this could also cause the issue. You could try connecting your BT TV box to another aerial port in your home if you have one to see if this makes a difference.

If you have a good signal strength on all the other channels (greater than 80%) then try re-tuning your box and scanning for channels:

  • YouView+ box - Go to Settings > TV Signal & Quality > Re-tune Channels
  • BT Vision+ box - Press the BT Vision button on your and go to Help & Settings > Settings > TV Settings > Scan for Channels > Start scan

Finally, if you have:

  • an internal aerial - try repositioning it to see if this resolves the issue
  • a shared aerial - contact your landlord or House Association to get it checked out
  • an external aerial - there may be a fault with the aerial or your aerial may be out of position and unable to pick up all channels.
