Resolved Question:

I have a spot which has appeared on my neck/chest - it has appeared out of the blue. It is red in colour and around 2/3 of the size of my fingernail. I'm worried it might be cancerous

Hello Melanie

I'm Dr Chip

Could you please post a photo for me on this page?

Hi
I've just sent a pic.

Got those--thanks

And you say this just suddenly popped up?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
It's not very big smaller than the size of my small finger nail. Yes it appeared about a week ago I thought it was an irritation on my skin to begin with as I'd been wearing a top with embroidery on it

Worried it's something more sinister

Thanks

OK

Nothing too worrisome here--

It's not any kind of cancer--not a melanoma or a basal or squamous cell carcinoma

Those don't suddenly pop up like that

It's a small totally benign keratosis--fairly common in many people

It may go away on it's own but if it bothers you it can easily be removed with a cold CO2 laser by a dermatologist

Please let me know if you need any more information

Thank you. Do you know what caused this?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 month ago.

Could be just irritation from what you were wearing but again nothing to worry about
