I have a Nikon cool pix S9300 which shows the error mode dial

Customer Question

I have a Nikon cool pix S9300 which shows the error mode dial not in the proper position. I have moved the dial but it doesn't help. Any suggestions?

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

Probably the switch was broken by the impact when the camera was dropped (if, indeed, this page tells the story of this individual camera's history:
http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1221816).

The camera will need repair by a specialist with the right tools and parts. Most likely the mode dial (and perhaps an associated circuit board) will have to be replaced, an operation requiring tools and skills of a fairly exceptional order.

To inquire about repair to your Nikon camera (if you should wish to engage such repair services), go to
http://www.europe-nikon.com/en_GB/service_support/Repair+Centre/Support_Send_Repair.page
or
http://www.europe-nikon.com/en_GB/service_support/Support_Repair_Home.page

and get the list of authorized Nikon repair centres in the UK and Eire here:

http://www.europe-nikon.com/en_GB/service_support/Repair+Centre/Support_Authorised_Repair_Centres.page

I would advise you to simply inquire at the nearest authorized service center, as to how much repair of your camera would cost you, getting an estimate before committing to repairs, in case the cost might be more than you would care to pay.
