Thank you for your question, my name is Richard.

Can you tell me please the make and model of your wifi router?

Thank you
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi Richard,

Let me collect all the data and get back to you asap

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Thank you

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

OK. The chain is as follows:

Virgin Superhub 2 (in modem mode) to Draytek Vigor 2830n (router) to Netgear WNDAP350 (WAP)

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
ok, and which of these three is the printer connected to?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

It is connected to the WAP (Netgear)

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
ok, the problem is you have two many wireless devices in the one area.

This causes interference and can interfere and kick off devices which is what is happening with your printer.

Are you able to log onto the admin console of the netgear? As I want you to change the wireless channel.

Please let me know

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

FYI

The only wireless device is the net gear device. The Draytek and Superhub 2 are connected by ethernet to each other. There are however several WAP in the house as it is a large house. I have selected the option to have the printer connect to only one WAP.

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
ok, with it set to this, is it still disconnecting?

Also the Draytek Vigor 2830n is a wireless router.

Even if your not connecting, it still puts out a wireless signal.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes, it still does.

re Draytek, I see...however the internet coverage in the house is excellent. Using the wifi internet in the same room as the printer works without any problems. Is that info significant?

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
No, my statement still stands.

But you never actually answered if you did or can do my instructions I gave

I will repeat what I wanted you to do.

Are you able to log onto the admin console of the netgear? As I want you to change the wireless channel.

Please let me know

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I do not know how to do that am concerned how it will affect the distribution of the network throughout the house. I wouldn't want to solve this issue and then end up with a different one.

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
It will not affect anything else, and due to the multiple wireless devices you have, you need to do this.

I can tell you how, but first, is this computer connected to the Netgear also?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Thanks,

On the computer, click start, type in

CMD

press enter

Then type in the black window IPCONFIG

Press enter and tell me what the default gateway is please.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I'm on a mac

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
No problem,

On the mac, do the following.

First, pull down the apple menu in the top left corner and click on System Preferences

Next click on Network under Internet and Network.

The address will appear next to the Router heading.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

The IP address is 192.168.10.8.

Is that what you meant, or something else?

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
The router IP address.

I think your telling me just the IP address.

Its the ip next to router.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

On the page you advised me to open the only IP address is the one I sent you.

If I go to advanced settings and then wifi the following appears: b8:e8:56:1e:5f:b8

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
ok.. you should see the router IP.

If you click on this link, what do you see?

http://192.168.10.8
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
when I click on that link it says I'm not connected to the internet
Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
click on advance

what do you see?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I found it under advanced--->TCP/IP

it is 192.168.10.101

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Thanks

Now click on this link and tell me what you see please

http://192.168.10.101

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Draytek Vigor log-in page.

I don't have any username or but the password is available under the device password

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Ok, then you are not connected to the netgear

Are you sure the printer is connected to the netgear?

How do you know this?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Good question

We only have one wireless network in the house with 3 WAP's (netgear).

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
but your connected to the Draytech

Easy way to test, power off the netgear

Tell me if the printer still connects please.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I appreciate your time but I have to go to work now.

Apologies.

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
ok... can we at least resume when you return?
