Camera type FinepixHS50EXR. Camera was subjected to low temperatures

Customer Question

Camera type FinepixHS50EXR.
Camera was subjected to low temperatures and slight condensation in a car over 3 days,
the photographic memory has been lost from the card, the camera is functioning o.k. but any shots I am taking will not appear on the display monitor. Is the answer to replace the memory card?
The monitor is working o.k. displaying settings etc.

Hi,

Have you checked the memory card in another device, like a computer, using a card slot or usb memory card adapter?

Will the camera take and display a photo with the card removed (using the internal memory)?

Tried the card in my printer which indicated that no images were found

If you have not already done so, take a couple shots with the memory card out of the camera. If they are displayed in the camera then only the card is at fault. Please let me know the result.

took a couple of photo's with memory card removed and was able to download and view them on my computer.


Please note the 2 photo's would not display on the camera monitor.

Sorry for the delay. The system failed to notify me of your reply. It appears that the exposure to cold has had an unusual effect on the camera's function. While the write to card ability remains, apparently, the card reader cannot recognize the file that is created. This still may be only temporary since condensation can take quite a while (usually 3 to 5 days) to evaporate from inside of an electronic device and even then, the result can be unpredictable. If this was a recent occurance allow more tim for the condensation to dissapate. Sealing the camera in a Zip-Lock bag filled with rice can speed the process.

Please keep in mind that my diagnosis & solutions provided are directly
dependent on the accuracy of your description of the problem. As with
any "do it yourself" fixes, success is a "team effort", since I can't
see or touch the camera
, and relies on the customer's manual dexterity
and ability to follow the instructions well.
