MY CANON EX1 CAMCORDER WILL NOT POWER UP

MY CANON EX1 CAMCORDER WILL NOT POWER UP

nathan_mills :

Hello.

nathan_mills :

Welcome to just answer.

nathan_mills :

Try cleaning the terminals of the battery and try new batteries.

nathan_mills :

Check for the battery cover. Does it securely locks or not.

Customer:

This has all been checked

nathan_mills :

There is a micro switch under the battery door on the sd chip side, near the hinge of the door. It's white in color with a black lever that catches a notch in the door to slide it toward the hinge as the door closes. The switch may be stuck or frozen or it may have gotten broke off,(no black lever protruding out of little white switch) and camera won't energize if it's not functioning perfectly.

Customer:

This camera is a EX1 Hi8

nathan_mills :

Give me a moment.

nathan_mills :

Did you drop this camcorder somewhere?

Customer:

No I just bought it

nathan_mills :

Then it is advised to take this back because trying to resolve this will require some steps that might void the warranty of this camera.

nathan_mills :

But still if you want then i can suggest you some steps that might solve the problem.

nathan_mills :

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its check if it is working again.

nathan_mills :

This camera is an old model and it has a lot of capacitors inside that are leaking and drying out. They need to be replaced. This is a huge and difficult job and it makes no sense to repair. And if you have have bought this brand new then take it back to the store and let them handle the problem. You might void the warranty of this camera.

nathan_mills :

Revert back for further assistance. Please rate the solution positively.
