I have tried everything to scan a document on mg4250... but

Resolved Question:

I have tried everything to scan a document on mg4250... but the message i get says 'set the pc to start scanning.... it is an A4 document. In the computer it tells me on network there is a scanner...urgently need to scan some info to my pc. i have a Toshiba windows 8.

i can see one is a scanner..its has WS and when i right click i can see lots of options

how are you trying to scan ..f.rom your computer or by pressing the scan button on printer

pressing the scan button on the printer. I lift the lid put the document in the printer...it then asks me to select type of doc...i do this then press green button OK - and it comes up with the error message

didnt know you could do it from the computer...i want to scan a document on the printer, so I can email it. It is a letter

yes...load the document on the scanner

now on your computer..click on search..type windows fax and scan

click on the option for windows fax and scan to open it

once open you will get a new scan or scan button

i am abit lost...when you say search...do I not go to the icon for the scanner and do this there?

yes you can open the scanner and check if you see the option to start scan or scan

  1. In the New Scan dialog box, click the Profile list, and then click Documents. The default settings for scanning a document, which you can use or change, are automatically displayed.




  2. To see how a document will appear when scanned, click Preview. If needed, change your scan settings, and then preview the document again. Repeat this step until you are satisfied with the preview results.




  3. Click Scan. When the scan is complete, Windows Fax and Scan automatically displays the document so that you can view and manage it.

ive opened it and clicked new scan but that box that came up last time.... comes up... Profile =Photo default...

its saying windows cannot be loaded when I change it plus a message...your profile settings may not be compatible with this scanner... but the scanner is part of my printer and the document is in my printer

when you connected this printer did you install the software from the printer disc if any

i losst the printer disk many months ago, so the drivers were downloaded off the canon site...the printer drivers...

you will open windows fax and scan...click on new scan..then click on preview...if the file shows up fine..click on scan
then click on save as ..and save the file
it gets saved under scanner documents folder by default
