My printer is Canon PIXMA IP 16oo

Ok...does it flash any error code either on printer or computer

also is the light steady or blinking

one light steady the other not working at all

please try the below

michelleclive :

turn off printer and unplug power cord

michelleclive :

keep the ON button on printer pressed for 10 secs

michelleclive :

wait for 2 mins

michelleclive :

plug in power cord back in and turn on printer and check

michelleclive :

let me know the status once done

Only the ome light as before

The status of the printer is the same as before

don you see a resume button on the printer

michelleclive :

its like an inverted triangle in a circle

if you see a resume button try the below

michelleclive :

Turn off printer by pressing the power button
press the Resume button and press Power button.
Keep holding down Power button and release Resume button
Press Resume button 2 times then release BOTH buttons
Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.

if you do not see resume button try the beloew

remove the cartridge...turn off the unit....unplug the power cable...manually slide the carriage assembly\ printhead back and forth
also clean the rail against which the assembly slides with a tissue ensuring that there is no ink residue on it
clean the golden contacts of the cartridges and the printhead with a cotton swab dipped in little alcohol
once these steps have been done, turn on printer and check

about seven years I think

ok...as per the symptoms and what we have already tried it seems to be a fault on the logic board or a sensor of the printer

michelleclive :

as its already out of warranty cover, you may take a service estimate quote for getting this unit repaired from a local printer store

michelleclive :

however, my personal suggestion would be that a repair will be expensive

michelleclive :

you can get a new unit at almost the same or little more cost

michelleclive :

i hope you understand that i can diagnose and suggest steps to fix but cannot make a bad part work again. as a best effor i can suggest what would be best cost effective option - -- a repair or replacement
