my name is***** look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem.
I want to warn you that it is possible you will need to replace a part in order to fix this.
There are a few different things that can cause this and a couple different parts so we would need to troubleshoot to find out .
Is the camera showing an error?

That could mean you need a new part then, just in case lets check anyway.
While holding the power button gently push the lens to the side.

Test this with each of the 4 sides, if it is off center to one side doing this should get it to retract while holding the power button.
If you hear a click while doing it do not worry that is normal.

That is not a good sign, Does it sound like it is trying to retract when you hold the power button? How old is the camera?

No sound of lens attempting to retract. I boughtthe camera 14 months ago.

Darn unless you have an extended warranty it would no longer be covered. The factory warranty only lasts a year. If you have an extended warranty this should be covered under it. The error you are getting means the zoom unit has failed and needs to be replaced. It is the part that extends and retracts the lens, on your model it is built into the lens. So to replace the zoom unit you need to replace the entire lens.

If you are comfortable with it you may want to remove and reconnect your current lens just in case a connection has come loose. This guide is North American version of your camera but the steps should be the same as the two are pretty much identical other than some minor differences like colours: Click Here I do not know of a guide with your exact model shown.
