I have just purchased a Canon PIXMA MG3650 serial no

Resolved Question:

I have just purchased a Canon PIXMA MG3650 serial no RMC:K10425 and am trying to connect it WI-FI to my Apple MacBook Pro. I am running version OS X 10.6.8.
I have downloaded the setup file via 'canon.com/ijsetup' but on trying to open the start window a message comes back 'cannot work with this operating system'.
Any ideas?

Hi Jim. Welcome to justanswer.

Have you downloaded the compatible drivers?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can you tell me where I can find these?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I thought that they would automatically download with the canon software
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

Jim I am sorry but the printer is not compatible with your OS. It is compatible with 10.7 and higher.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK - what upgrade do I need to go to and where can I find it?
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

You need to upgrade your Mac's operating system.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I understand that, I would like to upgrade to Yosemite but I cant find it via apple. Guidance please
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

Do you remember when did you buy your mac

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I didn't buy it - it was passed over to me by my son approx 1 year ago.
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

How much RAM does your system have?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
As far as I can see it has L2 Cache - 3mb and memory 2GB - is that what you are looking for?
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

Sorry for the delay, there was a glitch at my end. For installing Yosemite, you need 2 GB RAM, which you have and 8 GB available storage.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is there a cost for upgrade to Yosemite, or even 10.7 which at least will allow me to use my printer. If reasonable we could go securely connect.

Go to App store

Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

Search OS X Yosemite

Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

Do you see it in the app store?

Expert:  nathan_mills replied 1 year ago.

Jim you should upgrade to El Capitan as it is the latest one. Upgrade will be free and quite easy. If you want Remote assistnace then either make a request for it or accept the proposal and I will do it for you.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I accept your proposal - please do it for me - thanks

The name of the downloaded file will be Elsinore.screenconnect. Check in the download section. Once you open it, I will be connected to you.

Selected it from downloads but comes up garbage saying that it cannot run in DOS mode.
