Hi, I am an experienced veterinarian and happy to help!

Before we start please note:

We are testing a new rating system. If you have any problem with it please let me know.

This is meant to be a continuous chat, and for this reason it is very IMPORTANT that you reply using the REPLY TO EXPERT button, BEFORE rating, if more information is needed at any time.

When you say "paces from one end of the house to the other, un steady on her feet sometimes growls at us if she doesnt want to go out, sleepy all the time and shakes". Has this only started since the steroids?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
No the pacing and unstable on her feet started after the steroids had been given. But her sleepiness and shaking started before
Expert:  Veterinarian101 replied 3 years ago.
Is she still on the steroids?

Are the steroids prescribed because she wasn't eating?

What food are you feeding her?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Yes the steroids were to help her eat, I will feed her anything she will have, she has always been on burns dried food but now, she has cooked chicken, bacon, wainwright s complete wet food and anything else she will eat
Expert:  Veterinarian101 replied 3 years ago.
Ok thanks. I would not be concerned about her not drinking - she will be getting plenty of water in the food you are feeding. Even when it is hot there can be enough water in these foods.

You really need to be weaning her off the steroids gradually as it sounds like they are having some undesirable side effects. This means slowly decreasing the dose over 4-5 days.

The lack of eating and sleep is likely due to some depression associated with the loss of her companion. Ideally she should be placed on some anxiety mediaction to help with this loss. My preferences or longer term medication called Clomicalm or a short term medication called alprazolam. These address the depression of the loss as well as stimulating the appetite.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have further questions.
