Hi , I'm James DVM MRCVS and would like to help you with your question
First , congratulations on your new addition to the family
in regards to your question .
Each food manufature composes its food differently in regards to concentration of protein , carbohydrates and fat content
What I would recommend is first to search on the food itself for the table which tells you the amount in grams that your new friend needs to eat for 24 h.
It usually goes according to weight (the table )
I advise in very young dogs to weight them once a week and adjust the food quantity accordingly.
If your food does not hold an easy to red table then I would advise finding a food that does which will be as well an indication of it's quality (good food manufactures give a very detailed table) .
in case you are feeding the right amount of food , it might look like a small amount but it is the right one !
It is very important to feed the right amount and not go over the recommended amount as it will have bad effect on the growth process - effecting the skeleton and muscle growth in a bad way.
I hope this helps.
If you have any more questions on the matter , please let me know and I shall be back ASAP .
All the best
This answer is basically read the box - well I can do that myself without spending £13 on an "expert" to tell me to read the box! Most dis-satisfied.
