yes it could be stud tail

Stud tail is also called Tail Gland Hyperplasia in medical terms. It is often called 'stud tail' because it happens most often in intact males.

There are sebaceous glands in the top of the tail that produce oil. These glands become overactive and cause the skin to thicken, the hair can fall out, and the area can be come greasy.

This change is usually caused by hormones.... which is why it is more common in intact males, but it can happen in females too, particularly if they have some hormone shift (such as thyroid).

I hope that answers your question, but if you have more questions, or need more information, let me know.
