Resolved Question:

Hi , my dog has been chewing on salty stones today whilst at work with my husband who was laying a gravel driveway , he is 14 & half years old border collie . He collapsed & couldn't get up & wouldn't eat , we are now 1 hr on & he has eaten half his food & had lots to drink , do I need to rush him to a vet or just see how things go ?

Thanks in advance

Dr Aaron :

I would definitely recommend taking Finn into your local vet immediately.

Dr Aaron :

Anytime an animal collapses I get very concerned.

Dr Aaron :

I would definitely error on the side of caution.

Customer: Ok I will do thank you very much
Dr Aaron :

It is possible that the stones he chewed on are associated, but it could be just as easily a separate issue.

Dr Aaron :

@14 years old...I would be concerned about heart disease / cancer

Dr Aaron :

Please feel free to send me any further questions/concerns after you get back.

Dr Aaron :
