Dr. Susan :

Hi, I can help you with your question today.

Dr. Susan :

We do not see GI signs associated with heat cycles.

Dr. Susan :

Gwen's diarrhea started at that time coincidentally.

Dr. Susan :

Since she is already dewormed on a regular basis, intestinal parasites are less likely (although most dewormers only treat 1-2 parasites. There are no products that can treat for every time of parasite).

Dr. Susan :

Since she is eating and acting normally otherwise, we can try a handful of treatments at home before having her evaluated by her regular vet.

Dr. Susan :

You can use a human OTC probiotic like Culturelle.

Dr. Susan :

Break one capsule over her food once daily.

Dr. Susan :

Since she is flatulent, you can also use an OTC product to help.

Dr. Susan :

In the US we use simethecone, I believe you have a similar medication called activated dimethecone in the UK.

Dr. Susan :

I found at least one product online at Boots called Dentinox infant colic drops.

Dr. Susan :

This medication is not absorbed systemically, and cannot be overdosed.

Dr. Susan :

You can give this as often as needed to help with wind.

Dr. Susan :

You can also use a dose of Imodium for her.

Dr. Susan :

When you return, post back with her weight and I can help you with the appropriate dose.
