Diane, not doing is most appropriate for such a patient. Fasting for 12 hours would be prudent. I leave water down unless drinking induces more vomiting at which time I'll replace Dashie's water with ice cubes for her to lick. Dosing her with an over the counter antacid such as famotidine (Pepcid) dosed at 0.25 mg/lb once she hasn't vomited for 2 hours is acceptable and might afford Dashie some comfort. Once you offer food again, feeding a bland diet of chicken breast (sans skin) and white rice is smart. A few meals of this plus repeating the antacid at 12 hour intervals just might suffice. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

You're quite welcome. PepcidTwo is available where you live. You dose it at 0.5 mg/kg of the famotidine up to every 12 hours.
