It isn't, no. In field trials adverse effects were rare. Approximately 1% of cats showed a transient, localized alopecia at the area of administration but dogs tolerated selamectin (Stronghold) well. Less than 0.5% of pets experienced pruritis (itchiness)/urticaria (a hypersensitivity reaction), and erythema (reddening) of the skin. Skye appears to be in that less than 0.5% category. Please let her vet know what you're seeing, Madalene. I expect that the area will be addressed with a topical antibiotic-antiyeast-antiinflammatory steroid cream. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
