Resolved Question:

We found a chewed up packet of lansoprazole. We think our 10 week old border collie might have ingested 60mg possibly upto an hour ago. The dog seems fine but appears to be very lively playing with all his toys. Do you have any advice and will he be okay?

Thankfully, the proton-pump inhibitor antacids such as lansoprazole are very well tolerated by dogs. Even 60 mg isn't expected to cause adverse effects in your puppy. As with ingesting anything unusual transient gastrointestinal distress in the form of inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea can arise but your pup wasn't intoxicated. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner.

Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
