Customer Question

Hello, my dog has problems with yeast infections and has previously been prescribed fluconazole from out vet which worked a treat. He is having a flare up now but I just cannot afford the vet prices for the prescription at this moment . I know I can buy them myself, so my question is.. What dosage should I give my boy? Cannot recall what the dosage was from his prescription tablets as it was some time ago. He is 23kg and has no other meds. Good health otherwise.

Hi.

Dr. Paul Brazzell here.

Where are the infections?

He suffers from yeast infections, mostly between his pads on his paws and under his legs (which would be armpits on a person). Exact same areas as when he was diagnosed and same symptoms also. Red and very itchy.

The dosage for Fluconazole to treat Malassezia dermatitis (yeast skin infection is 5.0 mg/kg once daily.

Hope that helps.
