The plug in point on the bottom of the kindle seems not to accept the charger certainly not snugly and the kindle is not being charged . Can this be fixed

Ok, unfortunately on that model the port is integrated into the main board so to fix it you would need to desolder and then resolder the port onto the board. Some small local electronics shops will do this. However you can get a used Kindle cheaper and use this one for parts if anything fails. The screens for example tend to fail after a couple years and need to be replaced.
