I have a Motorola hand held microphone [Model Motorola 6121B].

Customer Question

I have a Motorola hand held microphone [Model Motorola 6121B]. I wish to extend the cable with a straight cable, that is NOT curly, However I cannot identify the connector. It has six contacts and looks like a telephone plug, rectangular in shape with a catch.
I would even be prepared to replace the microphone, but the cable must be straight for approx 1/2 metre from the plug.
Can you help me please.

Thank you for your advice. I have ordered the cable as you suggested and received it. However, I regret to say it is not the right one.

The two plugs are very similar, the style is the same as is the height but the width is wrong. The cable you suggested is just over 11mm [as near as I can measure with a steel tape. the plug I am trying to match is just over 9mm.

Also the plug you suggested has 8 pins, where as the one I wish to match has only 6 pins.

Perhaps you have another suggestion

Regards Graham

Hi Graham,

My name is Carl and I will try and help with your question.

I think the plug you could be after is called RJ11.

Here is link to an RJ11 Cable

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Modular-Extension-Cable-RJ11-black/dp/B000WL2ZVY/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1375865682&sr=1-5&keywords=rj11+extension+cable

The best way to check if it is RJ11 is to look at your home phone the cable from the wall to the base of most phones has a RJ11 on the phone base end, also if you have broadband the cable from your router to the wall is normally RJ11 both ends.

Let me know if this helps

Hi Graham,

If you think the lead I suggested is correct before you buy it, please could you check how many wires your microphone uses. The cable I suggested is wired for telecoms and only 4 wires connected. If you need all 6 connected let me know because I am yet to find a cable fully wired with all 6 wires connected
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi

Using the information you have supplied I have located a plug which is the same size and shape.

It is the "ADSL" plug on the back of my BT home Hub 3.0

However, the ADSL plug has only two wires connected to it, where as my microphone has all 6 wires soldered to the plug.

To reiterate my requirements: I am looking for a flat [not curly] extension lead, minimum of 1/2 metre long. Male and female plug at each end. The same plug as the BT hub ADSL plug and with all six connectors wired through.

Regards Graham.

Hi Graham,

I have found a suitable cable it is available here

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-extension-cable-bulk-RJ12/dp/B000VN1C0S

or here

http://www.cablegear.co.uk/rj12-extension-cable-6-core.html

It is the same as the adsl plug just fully wired. It is called an RJ12 if fully wired but is the same size as the RJ11 on your router that has only 2 or 4 cables connected.

I never knew that I thought it was called a RJ11 so I learnt something new.

Regards

Carl
