Hi,Thank you for using Just Answer my name is Carl and I will help with your question.I would connect the laptop to the mixer using a 3.5mm jack to 2xphono. I would connect the laptop to a line input not a phono input. If you cannot hear anything through the mixer I would check the audio output of the laptop using a set of headphones it is likely the laptop is the problem.
master out or aux are my only non phono options?
Sorry I meant don't use an input that is designed for a record player (phono) because it will have a preamp built in.
so where am i going?ch 1 ch 2 phono or cd or aux or master out?
I would connect the laptop to either the aux or the cd input.
Do you know if the laptop is outputting audio using the headphone socket.
think i need help from a dj. Thanks anyway
If you have any more questions I will try and help you answer them for you.
the answer is you need audio interface
I am sorry you have rated me poor service,If your laptop is able to output audio from a headphone socket you will be able to input that audio feed into your mixer. If you need the reverse senerio, you would like to input music from your mixer into your laptop to record your mixing into a software package like cubase you will need an audio interface. I was under the impression you wanted to connect your laptop to your mixer as a music feed into the mixer if you do it is my option that you do not need the audio interface and the output from the headphone socket will do the job. An audio interface with a line out will do a better job at outputting the audio because it will be true line level and not headphone level with is slightly quieter.
