Hi Susan,

This TV has power cord that is available under part number 183217041 at following suppliers..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sparepart-Sony-POWER-SUPPLY-183217041/dp/B00D5QCU7W

http://www.uk-computers.co.uk/pgProduct.cfm?Product=15892_285_442118-183217041-POWER-SUPPLY-CORD-PLUG

All is required to pull the old power cord from back of TV and plug new power cord in TV.
I trust my input will help you out. Please feel free to respond if you have any additional questions.
A positive rating to answer would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,

Shahid.

The power cord seems to be attached to the tv. Does this simply pop out of the tv? It seems to be surrounded by a small oblong panel.

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

I'm looking into KDL-40U3000 (UK) manual that shows power cord should pop out.
Is it possible to provide me picture of that area to view small oblong panel?

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
Hi Susan,

If it is three prong power plug and TV was bought in UK then above power cord part number is correct and we need to remove back cover of TV by removing screws around back panel to replace the power cord in TV.

I hope these info will help, please post back if there is additional question.
Thanks.

Hi Shahid, Sorry to bother you again!

Is the part that goes into the back of the tv a 2-pin plug?

Thank you.

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

No, the part number I mentioned above is three pin plug part number for UK standard.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I know th 3 pin plug goes into the wall socket, but thought the bit that goes into the tv itself might be cable with two holes, a bit like a kettle cable which has 3, but this has two/

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

ah OK, yes there are two wires that goes to power supply board connector inside TV.

Is it easy to do myself or do I need an engineer?

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.

Its not tough job for a handy person, put TV facing down on flat surface and unscrew all around back panel to take out table stand (if it is attached to TV) and to take off back cover.
