Could you please provide some further information:
What is the make and model number of your scanner?
Is it connected to a computer?
If so, what scanning software are you using?
I am sorry I am an elderly lady so you will have to be patient with me. When you ask about software I am not sure what you mean.
That's ok, just take your time.
Can you tell me more about the scanner first - what type is it?
My computer is a Packard Bell and I am on Windows 7
Ok, and the scanner...?
I do not know
Are there any markings on it, perhaps underneath or on the rear?
Or can you describe it? Is it a flatbed scanner, or part of a multifunction printer, or a handheld scanner?
It is part of a multifunction printer. The printer is a Kodak ESP3250.
Ok, great that helps!
And could you also let me know the exact error message you see when you try to scan?
Without doing it I cannot remember.
Ok, could you try doing it again and let me know?
This will help to pinpoint the likely cause of the problem.
Without seeing it I cannot remenber
Can you try scanning again right now?
Without seeing it I cannot remember
Ok, can you try seeing it again?
If the printer/scanner is connected to the computer you are on right now, try doing a scan and let me know what happens...
Without seeing it I cannot remember it
Is all ok now?
What rating would you like to submit for my service today?
When I press Reply my answer disappears
When the answer disappears, you can move down the page using the scrollbar at the right hand side of the page.
If you have not already done so, can you please try scanning now and let me know what error message you get?
Hi, I have got the same answer from you several times.
Are you able to carry out the instruction I posted?
I am seeing the same reply from you every time.
I can now tell you exactly what it said. Operation could not be completed(error 0x00000015) The device is not ready.
And what are the options below the error message?
For example, does it say OK?
I am sorry . It does
Ok, and if you click OK, does it let you continue to use the scanner?
Usually when this error message occurs, it is letting you know that one of the many services running in the background on the computer has not started and is not ready, however if you click on OK you should still be able to scan.
To make the error message go away permanently, try the following:
The trouble is that I cannot actually click on OK as the cursor goes off.
1. Click on the Windows Start icon.2. Type services.msc in the search part.3. Scroll to the following services and enable them by right clicking on them, click properties and make it automatic startup: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) DCOM Server Process Launcher RPC Endpoint Mapper Shell Hardware Detection4. Once these services have been enabled, reboot your PC and you should no longer see the error message appear again.
Ok, then you will need to try the advanced procedure that I just posted to fix the problem.
What do you mean by reboot?
Reboot means to restart the computer.
We have now been chatting for over one hour and I have to go soon - are you happy to rate my service highly now?
I am very impressed as to how patient you have been. I shall certainly ask for you again if \I
I have more trouble. Thank you Pete.
You're welcome! :)
