I have a Lumix TZ30 camera which has stopped working. The battery

Resolved Question:

I have a Lumix TZ30 camera which has stopped working. The battery is fully charged and a message comes up on the screen "system error (zoom)". Is this terminal or can it be fixed - if so, how ? Thanks,

Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck and try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only And let me know the result....

this error occurs when the lens is unable to move and it can be due to various reasons

is the camera under one year warranty?

Follow these steps

1. With the camera switched off slide the 'Zoom lever' to the right (T) position and hold down the 'Shutter' button for a few seconds then switch the camera on. You need to still be holding the 'Zoom lever' and 'Shutter' button.

This seems to force reset the zoom to full extent. Then switch off the camera, the zoom may stay fully extended. Try cleaning the outside of the lens barrels to make sure there is no dirt on them.

2. Then With the camera switched off slide the 'Zoom lever' to the left (W) position and hold down the 'Shutter' button for a few seconds then switch the camera on. You need to still be holding the 'Zoom lever' and 'Shutter' button.

This seems to force reset the zoom to minimum extent. Then switch the camera off.

Brilliant, that worked ! Should I try putting the memory card back in and is there something I can use to clean the mechanism with if there is some dirt/sand in the works ??

michelleclive :

there is nothing else you can do to clean the mechanism or gears for that you will have to open the camera to do so however if you avoid putting the camera on the ground on a beach that would prevent the sand or dust to enter the zoom mooving mechanism
