When printing or copying ever 4th line is missed out or illegible.

Resolved Question:

When printing or copying ever 4th line is missed out or illegible. I have tried changing the ink / cleaning but the problem persists. Can you help or do I need a new printer? This one is less than 2 years old.

please right click on printer icon and printer properties

click on print test page

let me know if it omits out the 4th line on test page as well

Test page also missing every 4th line

now where the carriage moves to and fro, do you see a plastic strip running from left to right

with a soft cloth, very carefully clean the strip...please do it slowly so as not to break it

once done, try a print and let me know

please right click on printer icon..printer preferences ...click on maiantainence tab and then nozzle check

let me know if nozzle check pattern has missing lines or colors

have you tried printing a test page from printer itself in standalone mode and not from computer

Yes it still misses the lines or the top or bottom of them at intervals of 5 or 6 lines

ok..since the printer is missing out the lines when printing from computer or printer control panel, it clearly indicates an issue with the printer

maybe with the printhead

have you tried printhead cleaning

if not right click on printer icon...printer preferences..maintenance tab and then select the head cleaning option

once the head cleaning is complete, try a print and let me know

in that case, the problem seems to be with the printhead itself

please confirm that when you printed from the printer buttons(not from computer), it missed out the lines

in such a case the unit would need to be serviced as it seems to be a problem with the printhead

michelleclive :

as unit is out of warranty, you can get it serviced from a local printer repair store for printhead replacement

agreed but how do I go about getting it serviced? Where do I find a local printer store and maybe the cost would be the same as buying a newprinter

printheads are usually costly, i found one available on ebay for around 70$

michelleclive :

i would suggest to contact a local repair store and check the estimated service cost and then decide whether you would like to get this serviced or buy a new printer

michelleclive :
