Which Nexus model do you have?
Approximately how old is it?
its just over a year old. I think its the version before the 2013
the logo reads straight when held in portrait position
Is it a Nexus phone, or a Nexus tablet, or something else?
It has a fault and since the factory resets did not work it is likely an internal fault and will require a repair or replacement.
However, the good news is that as it is just over a year old, you are covered by the EU's 2 year automatic warranty rule.
This means that you will need to return it to the retailer, along with a description of the fault, and they will be obliged to repair or replace it free of charge under warranty for you.
I thought it only had 12 months or does hte EUs ruling override this?
Not a lot of people know about this rule, and a lot of shops don't know it either!
The EU's rule overrides all manufacturer's warranty :)
You can read more about it here:http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/shopping/shopping-abroad/guarantees/index_en.htm
How do I make sure they take notice?
If the shop assistant refuses to help, then ask to speak to the manager.
I have used this several times - last time was with my laptop in Argos, It was 18 months old and stopped working.
its a catalogue so I'm going to have to write so I want to make sure they can't back out
Yes, put it in writing. It is a legal EU guarantee so they can't ignore it.
Blimey I wish I'd known about that a while ago!
It's not a well-known rule. Pass it on!
OK, will do. Thank you for your help
You're welcome :)
