I am trying to install my new Workforce WF-3620 printer but

Resolved Question:

I am trying to install my new Workforce WF-3620 printer but am unable to insert the ink cartridges as the cartridge holder will not move to the left enough for me to open it and then install the inks.

please follow the below steps

michelleclive :

press the home button...then press the setup button(it has icon of tools)

michelleclive :

then maintainence...then ink cartridge replacement

Customer:

When pressing home button it comes up as an invalid operation and will not let me proceed further.

michelleclive :

then open the scanner cover and check if you are able to change the cartridge

michelleclive :

ok..please turn off unit and unplug power cord

Customer:

No cannot change cartridge. This is first time set up and am unable to insert cartridges as per original question

Customer:

I have unplugged poer cord

michelleclive :

now keep the ON button on printer pressed for 10 secs..wait for 2 mins

michelleclive :

plug in power cord and turn on unit and check

Customer:

I have done as requested but the ink cartridge holder has still not moved across.

press the ink button

michelleclive :

does that move the cartridge holder

Where is the ink button on this model

Customer:

I have pressed the Colour and Black and white buttons . No success

turn off unit and try to manually slide the carraige

does it move freely ro seems to be stuck

I have tried to manually slide it to the left but it will not move!

the carriage seems to be locked

this could happen due to a spring getting stuck

Customer:

Is it possible to unlock it.

this could have happened while transporting the unit

michelleclive :

yes there is a way to unlock it

Customer:

I have checked all blue tape has been removed.

michelleclive :

try it carefully so as to not damage anything as that will void the warranty cover

michelleclive :

just below the carriage do you see a white plastic tab that is spring loaded

michelleclive :

you need to push it outwards towards yourself

michelleclive :

do this gently

michelleclive :

once done try moving the carriage

No sorry. This has not worked

did you see the spring

No. Am I supposed to be looking under the ink cartridge holder?

yes

michelleclive :

under the cartridge holder

I have tried pulling towards me the small white tab under the cartridge holder .
It seems attached to a spring but I cannot see it.

ok

michelleclive :

dont force it

michelleclive :

if it breaks it will void the warranty cover

michelleclive :

as its new and spring has got jammed, i would suggest to return this unit and get it exchanged for a new one

michelleclive :

stress for an exchange..if they do not agree to it, then also you can get this jam cleared through a service of the unit free of cost under warranty

michelleclive :

i will not suggest further steps as that will void the warranty cover

I assume I have correctly installed this machine so far.

i hope you understand that in case of jams i can suggest how to clear it but cannot get it fixed in case of internal jam

michelleclive :

its not your fault

michelleclive :

this may have happened due to incorrect handling when the unit was transported

michelleclive :

the spring might have got a jerk and got stuck

michelleclive :

we could use a screwdriver to remove it but then 1 year warranty cover will get void...so i would suggest to get this unit exchanged
