When I use iplayer and select the HD On option the sound goes

When I use iplayer and select the HD On option the sound goes off. Even then selecting HD Off doesn't restore the sound. You have to ext iplayer completely and start again keeping the HD Off option

Ok, then the problem may be with the sound settings on the TV

Are you listening to the sound directly from the TV's speakers, or do you have any surround sound or other systems attached?

directly from the tv speakers

Try going to Menu - Sound - Sound Effect, and try selecting a different effect.

If that does not help, go to Menu - Sound - Reset Sound to reset the sound settings.
