The Panasonic TV that my smart PVR is connected to is working.

My panasonic TV model number is *****

My samsung Smart PVR is model number STB- E7550M

This is the first time I have had a problem since installation.

Also, have you tried to unplug PVR power cord from wall socket for 10 minutes to reset, replug and check?
If not yet, can you try it now and rely back with the result?

have switched off power for 15 minutes and problem remains unchanged.

Is the PVR connected to internet through wifi or hard wire?
If it is wifi, how far the router is from PVR as low strength signal might be causing the problem?

It is WiFI, but TV and PVR in the same place as always and close by,

well within range.

Please try to run network setting again in PVR menu to establish fresh internet connection that will help to resolve the issue.
If it doesn't help then next option is to upgrade PVR firmware manually with USB memory stick, check following link to download firmware upgrade file to proceed...

I had already re run my internet connection before contacting you initially.

I was unable to download the firmware suggested. It appeared to have 17 documents in it and unable to open any of them . I do have Adobe reader installed and usually can open Zip docs.

Very frustrated and dissatisfied. The limitation of email communication on this matter.

I'm sorry for the trouble, there is only one file listed as "firmware upgrade USB type" VERSION : 1018.1 at above Samsung link along with upgrade guide that has detailed instructions to proceed.
Can you please try above link one more time and check under Firmware?

I am still getting the same response. I can see the Firmware upgrade file(USB type) you refer to, but still not getting the information that I should find there, when it is downloaded.

I have checked on line with BT and my connection seems to be working fine.
