, I have a Panasonic recorder model DMR-ES30VEB, I switched

Hi, I have a Panasonic recorder model DMR-ES30VEB, I switched off the whole rig to let my SKY HD BOX reboot, when I put the mains back on the recorder did not light up, and the repair shop that has repaired items for me before has closed down, can you help with simple checks I can make, thanks, Alan

On the actual recorder, can you hold the Channel up and Channel Down buttons for 6 seconds, then release.
This should force it into the setup mode after reloading the firmware, so that you can run through the setup again. This will then resolve any issues caused by a corrupted firmware that can result in this.

Have you tried to plug it into a different power socket to rule out this as an issue?

Yes ,have changed the fuse in the plug as well.

Then it is either the internal mainboard or power supply that has shorted, likely the mainboard.
the cost to source and replace this is going to exceed the value or a replacement.
Unless the recorder is under warranty. How old is it Alan and where did you purchase it from?

I have had this unit for at least 12 years, I think it is time to purchase a new recorder, thanks for your help, regards, Alan.
