The wireless mouse on my Toshiba Satellite laptop has stopped

Resolved Question:

The wireless mouse on my Toshiba Satellite laptop has stopped functioning although it's switced on and battery okay. A message came up about a malfunction on the latest USB device that was plugged in (actually my new TomTom connector as yesterday I was downloading USA/Canada onto it). It worked okay for a while this morning, but has stopped doing so now. Any suggestions? Thanks. COLIN

try a system restore

michelleclive :

the system restore should reverse any changes to the system that might have caused the issue to occour.

click start...in the search box type system restore

in the window that appears, restore computer to earlier date and time and click next
select a date may be 2 or 3 days back when system was running fine and click next
follow the onscreen steps

once restore completes check functionality

right click on all entries of usb root hub and uninstall\remove\delete

Went into devices and printers - shows icon for unknown usb device - device descriptor request failed - category unknown - status: needs troubleshooting. Was that the right device manager to open or should I have gone elsewhere?
