Sony TV/Disc player, KDL40EX43B.........when inserting a disc, the screen says "no disc present"...............it has been fine for a while but this problem has just appeared.

As the first step, can you please remove the power from the player and wait 10 minutes.
Then plug the power in, turn it on and try to play a disk

It is the lens that has faulted. It will either be dirty or malfunctioned.
I advise you first to purchase a lens cleaner which you can get here

Once done, check if it can then play disks. If not, then it means the Lens unit has actually malfunctioned. In this case, you are going to have to return the unit to have this replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
