To renew this you must update the details via your computer on your Amazon account. I saw you said you did this but to be sure I will go through the instructions you need to do.
To do this, please do the below steps.
Visit the page for your account - click here to go to this page
- Log into using your Amazon account (the same Amazon account you have registered on your Kindle)
On the right side select "Settings"
Under 'Kindle Payment Settings' (first option)
Click 'Edit Payment Method'
Change your credit card details.
Restart your Kindle and it should then be updated)

The kindle still hasn't updated the visa card.

Remove the charger from the Kindle and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.
Release, then connect the charger and turn on the Kindle.
Then check if it is updated

I have since spoken to Amazon and the problem involved other accounts held in my name by them. They have resolved it in a similar fashion to what you were suggesting but it involved restarting twice and some modifications at their end so they needed to do something technical as well.
