I have a UE40B6000 Samsung TV and have recently (poss incorrectly) purchased a HW-J250 sound bar, there doesn't seem to be a way to link them ?

Hi, I am A. Stevens here to help with your question! I think you should be able to connect to your Samsung TV using soundconnect, but I need to verify that your TV has that capability

So yes, looks like the TV does not support Sound Connect. Your TV set has the option for Optical Audio Out (Audio Out (Optical) to Sound System) to connect to a external sound device. You would need to find a soundbar with optical audio option.

Your TV is limited only to optical audio - no option for bluetooth or aux unfortunately
