the dvd writer is a Samsung ultra thin writer SE208, and its brand new hence the problems

do you get any error when you try to burn a disk or the problem is something else like its not powering on or something, please explain the problem a bit more in detail.

Hi Michell, the problem I in trying to burn a disc it will not even format a blank disc could the problem be the rw disc?

yes it could be with the RW disk, are you using a brand new RW disk or an old one try to burn a disk which is not RW.let me know which burning software you are using is it NERO.

I'm using nero 10 version, brand new traxdata disc

try to connect the dvd to the usb port on the back of the pc when you have the power cable and other cables.

sometimes connecting on the front panel usb dvd writers dont work.

Please remember any time you use a new device try to connect it to the port at the back of the pc as the usb ports gets inbuilt motherboard power and the device simply works fine.Front panel usb dont get enough power to make an external usb drive or device work.
