ok, I need to know the actual model Jan, but first try a hard restart
Remove the power to it by unplugging the power cable, then wait 5 minutes, plug in the power cable, turn it on and tell me if it is then functioning please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Just the same I'm afraid. It just says selected programme is not tuned, when I press the guide button. There is a little D in the left hand corner of the screen.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, need to try to see what you did
Press input and repeat until you see a picture appear.
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No picture appears. The screen just doesn't change at all
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Are you sure the remove is working? Does it turn the TV off and on?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh yes the remote is fine
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, go to
MENU
Settings
Digital Setup
Digital tuning
And retune the channels
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Do you mean using the DVD remote or the tv remote. It is the dvd remote which is usually used. The menu button on DVDs remote does nothing to the screen. The TV remote menu button says sync menu, which brings a screen saying HDMI device
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok... I was not aware you were using two remotes.
Press input on the TV remove, does this switch it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
There is no input button on the TV remote
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
For this model there is, top left.
This is your remote right as its for your TV

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Input button is top right on dvd remote. It does nothing when I press it! Don't think we're actually getting very far!remote
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
The link I gave Jan, is that the remote you have?
As the Remote for this TV does have an input on it, so I am not sure what remote you have now in your hand
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Sorry Richard, yes it is except the input button doesn't say input! It's just a little box with an arrow in....Aaagh. When I press that, I get a list of AV1 Av2 etc
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, and if you cycle through no picture?
If so then it is all through the DVD, so what is the make and model of the DVD player?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It's a Sony HD Mi RDR DC205
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, and on which port on the back of it is the cable connected to?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The first rectangular port of the tv( grey cable)
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, that is scart
Do this please
Make sure that the recorder is turned on and remove any disc in it.
Hold down (stop) on the recorder and press power on the recorder and hold till it turns off
Then release and turn it on and tell me what then happens please
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Says power will be turned off by auto shut off soon. Getting scarey now
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes it will as we are shutting it down
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
All shut down now
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Then release and turn it on and tell me what then happens please
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
TV just the same. Can't turn dvd back on
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
These instructions I gave you were to be doing on the DVD Jan.
Is this where you did them?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes. Am feeling a bit hopeless now and think I am making things worse
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, what do you mean with you cannot turn the DVD back on?
Please note the challenge here for me is knowing your setup and what you actually did, so I am trying to reverse engineer this without being able to see (eg: I did not know it was on the DVD you did this as you first said TV remote)
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Well I have followed your instructions and then screen is still saying the same thing. Selected programme is not tuned
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, before you said TV, then you said DVD.
Explain exactly what you did on which remote to cause this please
As if you did my instructions it should have taken you to a setup menu.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My daughter has always advised me to use the DVD remote for the TV. It is this remote that I was using. Instead of pressing the small green rectangular button to select the programme I wanted to watch, I pressed the round middle button... PROBLEM has occurred as a direct result of this simple thing. Sorry to confuse you.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
If you press menu on the DVD remote, you see the menu appear?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No. The screen just doesn't change
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, then the TV is not on the input for the DVD, so your not looking at the input
Press the input on TV, then press menu on DVD and repeat till you see the DVD menu on the TV
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
All I get is an option list TV av 1 av 2 etc
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes and one of these is the input the DVD is connected to on the TV
Look at the back of the TV and you will see which one it is. This is what you need to have the input on.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Well! It's AV1 and have set that. Now have a live TV! Can't use the guide or change the channel though, but it iS progress
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, you change the channel on the DVD one, what happens when you do?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Well it doesn't work BUT it appears to change using the TV one, so perhaps I should settle for that..
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
that will be the correct one if thats what is changing the channel.
It will be the TV one that you use Jan.
Great we got it back and running
