What version of windows or mac is on the computer? How are you trying to scan?

windows 7. tried to scan photo that I placed into printer then tried to scan from computer.

How did you try to scan from the computer? For example what program and steps did you use? Did you get an error?

I used icon Epson then click my printer wf3520 then scan,hoping it would show up on computer as it has done before but getting error.

sorry it states, cannot communicate with the scanner..my scanner was on and connected to my computer.

How is the printer connected to the computer? Can you print?

Please disconnect and then reconnect both ends of the USB cable.
After that please try scanning using windows fax and scan.
You can get to it by clicking on search and typing in scan, it should come up in the list.
Click file and new scan to start a scan.
