Hi there and welcome
You mean the printer will not not start again?
Please let me know.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Sorry, Richard, I meant the BK cartridge not the whole printer.
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
No problem, but you mean you do not know how to put the cartridge in?
Sorry just trying to clarify the issue.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Whatever this cartridge is connecting to indicates there is no cartridge there.
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, remove the cartridge and wipe the connection points please.
This is on the cartridge itself and in the slot on the printer.
Once done, put the cartrisge back in and tell me what then happens
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No change.
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, remove the power to the printer by unplugging the power socket and wait 10 minutes.
Then connect the power to the power socket, turn it on and tell me if it now detects it please.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
will do.

Thank you
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Nothing changed. The ink levels display shows BK as totally empty. Test print is in purple instead of black.
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Thanks, ***** ***** be a faulty cartridge, can you replace BK and tell me with the new one you still get the issue please.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Cartridge is fine, whatever it is that recognizes the cartridges presences has been inactivated by me in the case of the BK but cannot remember where I found out how to do this.
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
you cannot deactivate it, there is no such function to do this.
It is either a fault in the cartridge or in the printer head.
How have you confirmed the Cartridge is fine?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Can I be clear about this, Richard, If the BK is empty and printer won't print, then you cannot take it "offline" as it were? If so I seem to have damaged it in some way and need to take it to my local repairer.
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Correct, it cannot be disabled as such, which is why either the print head or the cartridge has faulted.
Which is why I want to rule out the cartridge.
If you know this is not the case, then the print head has been damaged and would then need to be replaced.
