I turn off YouView in settings
Then in normal TC mode
When I press record it says I need a software update.
I check software and it says I am up to date.

Can you remove the power to the Youview box, and wait 10 minutes (so unplug it from the power socket).
Then connect the power, turn it on and tell me if it now operates correctly.

ok, leave it for now and do the following please
Can you please remove the power to the TV (so unplug it from the power socket).
Then on the actual TV, hold the power button for 60 seconds then release.
Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power again to the TV, turn it on and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.
