When I turned on the TV last night all I got on the screen

Resolved Question:

When I turned on the TV last night all I got on the screen were bands of colour.. I could hear the programme and could change the channels but still got only the sound. I pressed every button on the controller but no success. What should I do?

Thanks for the info.- Are these solid bands of color or multicolor thin lines on screen?- Does TV menu screen come up correctly if press menu button on TV or its remote?

they are thin lines of all colours. When I press the Menu button the background changes but the bands of colour obscure everything.

Thanks for the info.This kind of problem occurs due to either t-con board or LCD panel internal circuitry failure.Please unplug TV power cord from wall socket for 10 minutes to reset, replug back in and turn On the TV. If lines are still there then it would be t-con board or LCD panel failure and swapping the t-con board is only option available to determine if it is LCD panel failure or not. TV will need to take apart to get part number off of t-con board then use it to search/ google to get replacement t-con board price info to order it if you are looking to repair the TV yourself.Taking the TV to repair shop may not be an option because it would cost good money and you probably buy another TV of same size in that amount. I trust my input will help you out. I can't afford a new TV set, so I'll make do with my iPad. I was hoping for a way of putting it right but your answer is disappointing.

I'm really sorry about it and wish I had better news about TV problem. T-con board replacement is only option that I already mentioned in my previous reply that might help to fix the TV.Thanks.
