I have a Canon Pixma MX475 printer, fairly new. I have installed a new Black ink cartridge, but I continually get messages saying that there is no ink, or another message saying 'Check Ink 1686 Blk ' I am unable to print anything at present. I have checked the Canon video demonstrating how to install a cartridge, and I'm sure it's clicked properly into place. Can you help, please?

Hi Peter,

Remove the ink cartridge again and try wiping the contact pad on the printhead using a lint-free cloth.

Then firmly insert the cartridge again.

If you still get the same message that there is no ink, try inserting another genuine Canon ink cartridge.

Thanks Pete, but I tried that and it made no difference. Still getting the 'Check ink' message on the printer. Any more ideas?
