Try this first please, disconnect the power to the printer while the top is open. Then with the top open, and the power cable unplugged, try to manually move the carriage. Then try a print job. If that fails try this next please. With the printer open and power unplugged push and hold the carriage against the right side of the printer tightly. Wile holding the carriage, plug the power back in and the printer should turn itself on. Keep holding the carriage to the right. You may feel it try to move but keep holding it. Once the printer stops making its startup noises release the carriage and close the printer. Then try doing a print job again and see if that helps. Holding the carriage may force the carriage to reseat and become free.
okay, unfortunately that means there is an internal hardware failure that is causing the issue and the printer will need to be repaired or replaced.
