What is the make and model of the monitor?

And do you see anything on the screen at all? A No Signal message?

Expert:  Richard replied 11 months ago.

Sorry Earl but this is not too clear

The monitor has VGA and HDMI

You say it gives no picture.

I asked you to disconnect but your now referring to analogue and the statement was not too clear...

Can you please clarify in a bit of detail the issue? Or I can call you if it is easier?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
the monitor has two connectivity
but the hdmi fails to give picture
Expert:  Richard replied 11 months ago.

ok thanks.

  1. Connect the HDMI cable to both the PC and the output device, for example, a television or home entertainment set.
  2. On the PC, right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution.
  3. In case two displays are not listed, click Detect to start re-detection of the screens. One is greyed out. Click this screen.

Tell me if it then displays

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
i got 1,2 and 3 and then one 4th reads disply not detected
Expert:  Richard replied 11 months ago.

You have 4 monitors connected to the one computer?

How exactly?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
one monitor with tow connection, hdmi and vga
Expert:  Richard replied 11 months ago.

But the monitor only uses one of these Earl, either VGA or HDMI it does not use both at the same time

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
connecting the hdmi then you get hdmi, in this case no picture
Expert:  Richard replied 11 months ago.

yes Earl, so as I requested, only connect the hdmi

  1. Connect the HDMI cable to both the PC and the output device, for example, a television or home entertainment set.
  2. On the PC, right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution.
  3. In case two displays are not listed, click Detect to start re-detection of the screens. One is greyed out. Click this screen.

i don't know what you are saying but i got to settings and then display and clicked detect
Expert:  Richard replied 11 months ago.

ok, You need to only connect the monitor via the HDMI port, not the VGA and HDMI

Then click detect please

Then check if it shows
